Sent off during the last Classic between PSG and OM, Beraldo, the Parisian Brazilian defender, received a two-match suspension from the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League. This decision may be surprising at first given that a red card usually results in a one-match suspension. However, the president of the commission Sébastien Deneux wanted to explain the reasons for this heavier sanction.

Indeed, in addition to his expulsion against Marseille, Beraldo already had three warnings in the championship. However, according to the regulations, a player receiving three yellow cards over a period of ten matches is automatically suspended for the following match. Beraldo was therefore already under threat of suspension for having received cards during the 23rd, 27th and 15th days of Ligue 1. His exclusion against OM, added to this accumulation of cards, therefore justifies the sanction of two matches pronounced by the authorities.

This decision logically deprives PSG of its Brazilian central defender for the next two games, namely the Coupe de France match against Rennes and the reception of Clermont in the championship. A detrimental absence for the Parisian club while it is still competing for the L1 title and is aiming for a new Cup trophy. Fortunately for him, Beraldo should be back to face Lyon on April 21 and especially to play in the quarter-finals of the Champions League against FC Barcelona at the beginning of April.
