Palmeiras travels to Montevideo to face Liverpool for the fourth round of the Copa Libertadores. Although the main objective is to seek the victory that puts him close to the round of 16, the match will also serve to see Luciano Rodríguez in action again, one of his objectives for the next transfer market.

In the previous match, played on April 11 at the Allianz Arena in São Paulo, the Brazilian team won 3-1. The goal for the Uruguayans was precisely from Rodríguez, 20 years old, the latest star in the youth teams and already with a place in the senior team of the two-time world champion.

Verdão is already closely following the Uruguayan, nicknamed “the new Luis Suárez” by the press. Especially thinking about adding options to replace Endrick who will leave for Real Madrid in the middle of the year.

He is not the only one who wants it: River from Argentina has already tried to advance, for now without success, with his pass. Now another suitor has appeared, Girona from Spain, who will play in the Champions League next season after this historic season that currently has them second in LaLiga.

Another advantage that the Spanish team has is that it has the comfortable wallet of the City Group, the business group to which it belongs, which would also facilitate a subsequent transaction with a major player like Manchester City. That was the path that the Brazilian Sávio is following, for example.

“Girona is one step up because it plays in the Champions League, it means going directly to Europe, I think it can play more. Luciano doesn’t care if it’s Europe or Brazil, what he prioritizes is the possibility of playing,” the attacker’s representative, Mauricio Machado, told Uruguay’s Sport 890 radio.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
