Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson says that Flamengo are streets ahead of the domestic competition after Liverpool’s World Club Cup Final meeting with the Rio club on Saturday.

The Reds were 1-0 victors but needed extra-time to claim the trophy. Alisson paid tribute to Flamengo’s performance and said they are an exemplar for Brazilian football.

“We have been working hard with the national team to value Brazilian football. We managed to win the Copa America,” he told Globo post-match.

“There is still a long way to go, but Flamengo played showed that an organized team, with a good coach, with dedicated players who run seriously, Brazil can evolve a lot in this.

“The other teams are far behind Flamengo, for the little I have been following. There are some teams that are at the top, Santos, Palmeiras, Athletico-PR, who won the Brazilian Cup. Inter has a lot to improve, Grêmio is at a good level. But we still have a lot to improve.”
