Bayern Munich defender David Alaba is hoping that on-loan Philippe Coutinho makes his stay at the Bundesliga giants permanent.

The Brazilian scored a hat-trick in the 6-1 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday and Alaba says the player has done enough to make his loan move from Barcelona permanent.

“If you watched the game today, we have to buy him, right?” David Alaba joked after the game. There is a £100m buyout clause in the deal.

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski is of the same mind as Alaba, “It was outstanding how he did that today,” he said. “We need this kind of player. I’m really happy that he showed what he is able to do.”

Coutinho endured a miserable 18 months at the Camp Nou and joined Bayern on a two-year loan deal in August.
