Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson says he is relaxed about being omitted from FIFA’s ‘The Best’ shortlist for World Player of the Year.

The Brazilian was a shock omission after an incredible season in which he won the Champions League with Liverpool and the Copa América with Brazil.

“I have always made it very clear that the main objective is the collective, then comes the individual part,” he said after Sunday’s Community Shield defeat to Manchester City.

“Of course it would be a pleasure, an honour to be among the ten on the shortlist. But if FIFA chose and if they thought I didn't deserve to be there, fine.

“I appreciate the kindness of those who disagree, who think I should be there. But I will continue to do my job, whether I am on the list of upcoming awards or not.

“Without changing my way of working to improve more and more, give my best to the club and also to the Brazilian team.”
