Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted that midfielder Fernandinho will be available as his side aim to overturn a 1-0 deficit at home to Spurs in the Champions League quarter- final tonight.

City lost the first leg 1-0 at White Hart Lane and need a big performance at the Etihad to overturn the arrears. Guardiola says that Fernandinho is in contention after experiencing some muscular issues.

“Fernandinho trained yesterday, it was low intensity, but he trained,” Guardiola revealed in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. He also hinted that Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus could start ahead of Sergio Aguero.

“Sergio Aguero is fit. He needs competition, and needs a little time to get to his best condition. Tomorrow is not about physical condition. We want to get to semi-final, that is the challenge.”

Jesus has largely been on the sidelines this season, given the imperious form of Aguero. But could start against Tottenham if Guardiola doesn’t regard Aguero as match fit.
