Liverpool midfielder Fabinho admits that he needed time at the start of the season to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.

The Brazilian signed from Monaco for 45m pounds last summer, but found minutes difficult to come by in his first three months at Anfield.

He admits he needed time to study his new team and come to terms with the physical side of English football. He has since established himself as a first team regular.

“I needed time physically to improve,” he told the Telegraph. “The intensity of it. Being in midfield, in general, you don’t have a lot of time to think and in the Premier League that’s even less of the case.

“You just don’t have time to think. And in the first few games I think I played well but I needed to be faster. Jurgen Klopp wanted me to learn how to play in the team and what my role was and I think time was the most important thing in doing this.”
