Brazil right-back Fágner says he is slowly gaining rhythm and confidence, after being called into the team for Friday’s 2-0 win over Costa Rica in St. Petersburg. The Corinthians man has come in for the injured Danilo.

Fágner is likely to start against Serbia on Wednesday. Prior to this week, he had not played since 29 th April, but the Timão full-back says he is fully up to speed, “It’s hard to compare myself to Danilo, he's an excellent player, I did what I'm used to doing at my club.

“I did the basics to gain confidence in the course of the game. Since I'm a boring guy and I get enough, I just want to improve.” He reveals a halftime conversation with Brazil coach Sylvinho, himself an ex full-back.

“Before the start of the second half, Sylvinho asked how I was. If I did not feel well or if I was tired, I'd tell him. Tite can put Marquinhos or Fernandinho in at right-back. It depends on what he sees of the game.”

Fágner is the only member of the first team who is not playing in Europe, which he insists is not an issue, “The level of competition you have in training allows you to face any opponent. Neymar, Douglas Costa, Willian, it’s a very high level, this prepares you for any kind of game situation.”
