Arsene Wenger Plays Down Malcom Links
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has played down links with Bordeaux’s Brazilian attacker Malcom, withAlexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott both set to leave the club during the January transfer window.
Sanchez is linked heavily with Manchester City and Wenger admits that the Chilean will be sold if theGunners can find a replacement during the window.
Well placed reports suggest Arsenal have their eye on 20 year old Brazilian Malcom, who is enjoyingan excellent season at Bordeaux.
BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein tweeted on Thursday, “As reported by others, Alexis Sanchez willleave Arsenal this month if suitable offer made + replacement secured. Hierarchy accept/expect it,conversations continue with Man City. #AFC wanted £35m, #MCFC £20m, possible compromise £25-30m. 1st choice replacement Bordeaux’s Malcom.”
When quizzed about the interest in Malcom on Friday, Arsene Wenger was coy, “He is a good player, but we are not on the case at the moment.”
