UEFA have announced their team of the year for 2017- and Chelsea forward Eden Hazard
has been named ahead of Neymar Junior, who moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint
Germain in the summer.
The XI was voted for by a total of 8.8 million fans on UEFA’s official website and Hazard
surprisingly beat Neymar to the punch, completing a front 3 alongside Lionel Messi and
Cristiano Ronaldo.
There were 2 Brazilians successfully voted in, however, Neymar’s club and international
teammate Dani Alves was voted into the right-back position, while Real Madrid and Seleção
left-back Marcelo completed the defence.
The full team of the year lines up as follows: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus & Italy); Dani Alves
(Juventus/Paris Saint-Germain & Brazil), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid & Spain), Giorgio
Chiellini (Juventus & Italy), Marcelo (Real Madrid & Brazil); Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester
City & Belgium), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid & Germany), Luka Modrić (Real Madrid & Croatia);
Eden Hazard (Chelsea & Belgium; Lionel Messi (Barcelona & Argentina), Cristiano Ronaldo
(Real Madrid & Portugal).
