Robinho says he will make a decision on his future in January. The ex-Real Madrid and Manchester City forward’s contract with Atlético Mineiro expires on 31st December, with an extension unlikely. He is linked with a fourth spell at childhood club Santos.

Robinho told Globo, “I honestly have not decided yet. I’m resting, hanging up the phone. I am looking for a rest with the family, because the vacation is very short. In January, I will make the decision where I’m going to play- a quiet, unhurried decision.”

He does not rule out returning to Santos for a fourth time, “No club would be a problem. The club that makes a good proposal, no problem. Not only Santos, but also others. Now I’m resting and I’ll wait to decide only in January.”

Atlético director Alexandre Gallo all but confirmed Robinho’s departure, saying, “We have a proposal within our maximum reality. He knows that, the agent too. She understood, she accepted in a positive way. I thought a deal would happen very quickly, but unfortunately it did not happen.”

The player’s agent Marisa Alija also broadly hinted at a departure, explaining, “Atletico gave a deadline for us to answer, making it clear that from there the proposal would no longer exist. It was not possible for us to position ourselves within this deadline.”
