Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has been talking about the possibility of Philippe Coutinho arriving in January, insisting he does not feel his place will be under threat if the Brazilian signs for the club.

Barca made several bids for the player over the summer and Coutinho submitted a transfer request in the summer in order to force through a move. But Liverpool rejected all bids.

This has led to rumours that the La Liga club will go back in for the Liverpool forward in the January transfer window, which Iniesta says he would welcome.

“I see him as a great associative player, with a lot of talent, who uses both feet, makes goals, combines very well and plays between the midfield and the forwards,” Iniesta said.

“He is a player with a profile quite like ours and would be a great signing if he finally arrives. I do not see him as my competition but as a boost for the club.”
