Brazilian midfielder Paulinho was on the score sheet for the second game running, as Barcelona put Eibar to the sword 6-1 in La Liga last night. Paulinho scored one and laid on another for Lionel Messi in the comfortable victory.

This follows on from Paulinho coming off of the bench to score the winner against Getafe at the weekend. Barca boss Ernesto Valverde spoke of his delight for the player, whose €40m move from Guangzhou Evergrande was widely questioned this summer.

“We had the chance today to rest a few players, and the guys who stepped in today did well. Paulinho is adapting very well, and we hope he continues like this.”

The player paid tribute to the club for making him so welcome since arriving from the Chinese Super League in July, “I have been received in the best possible way at the Club and the players have given me confidence.”
