Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists that Philippe Coutinho will still be welcome in his team, despite submitting a transfer request during the summer. The player was subject to four bids from La Liga giants Barcelona.
Coutinho put in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move through, but Liverpool held firm and have held onto the player. Coutinho has yet to appear for the Reds this season due to a back injury.
Klopp denies there is any bad blood however, “We still have a really good player in the squad who can play,” said Klopp. “Don’t believe everything in the press or that there are offers here and there and that the minute after the offer has been entered, it should already be over.
“We are not like George Orwell where everybody knows everything immediately. We have exactly the situation we wanted and no other.” Coutinho scored for his country on Thursday in their 2-0 win over Ecuador.
