Arsenal Defender Set for Valencia Move
Arsenal defender Gabriel is set to join La Liga club Valencia in a deal worth around £10m, according to the Daily Mirror. The Brazilian joined the North London club from Villarreal in January 2015 for around £15m.
Gabriel has found it difficult to adapt to life in England and has yet to nail down a starting position in the Gunners defence. With an offer of £10m on the table and only two years remaining on his contract, Arsenal appear minded to cash in.
Gabriel is in the final stages of recovery from a knee ligament injury sustained in the last Premier League match of last season, but this does not appear to be an impediment to the deal being concluded.
The 27-year old is considered expendable by Arsenal, whose squad is in serious need of some trimming. Failure to move on the likes of Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson may have contributed to the Gunners’ decision to let Gabriel move back to Spain.
