Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted that Barcelona want to keep Brazilian forward Neymar, whose future been subject to intense speculation over recent weeks, with Paris Saint Germain interested.

Rumours abound over the player’s future, not least when he was filmed fighting with teammate Nelson Somedo during training in the US last week. But Bartomeu says that the La Liga club will not make any transfer simple.

“We want Neymar to stay, but there are clauses. If he wants to leave, PSG will have to pay his clause, until the last cent. We haven’t talked, but we’ll sit down with him when we go home.

“With the money that would come in, the team would be strengthened. Those of us that are in charge of clubs need to be in contact in order to compete firmly.

“UEFA has Fair Play controls and if any club exceeds them, they’ll be sanctioned Barca are the club that earn the most or second most so we can keep growing, with €800m per year.”
