Cruzeiro are close to renewing the contract of defender Dedé, who"s recovering from a knee injury; he"s expected to sign a new deal until December 2018.
According to the information from UOL Esporte, Cruzeiro"s vice president Bruno Vicintin has held talks with the entourage of the defender – formed by Ubiraci Cardoso and Giuliano Aranda – with the intention of keeping him at the club for a longer period. The defender, who was the most expensive signing in the club"s history has a contract until April 2017. At first he planned to extend the bond until December of the same year, but, after a few conversations, he agreed with Cruzeiro"s intention of changing the term to December 2018. The Cruzeiro leader and the representative of Dedé will meet in the coming days with an objective of signing the new contract of the player. In the conversations, it was established that the wages of the 28-year-old [around R$ 400,000] will be maintained. The player has agreed not to receive any increase due to injuries that have hampered him since November 2014. In April 2013, the defender was hired by Cruzeiro for a cost of 5 million euros (R $ 14 million at the time). The club holds 45% of the economic rights of the player of 28 years and will continue with this percentage in the new commitment.
Dedé is currently recovering from a series of problems in his right knee. In January 2015, he underwent surgery on the posterior cruciate ligament. In April, he was operated at the same site, and the problems in the leg again bothered him in March 2016. However, this time he suffered a fractured patella, a situation similar to that of August of the same year.
