Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri did not score a single goal in a West Ham shirt and was even downgraded to the U23 team.
According to the information from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Calleri"s father has confided to São Paulo president Leco that his son is trying to terminate the loan agreement with West Ham United in January. Linked to Deportivo Maldonado of Uruguay, the player is loaned to the London team until July 2017. Information that Calleri is determined to leave West Ham encouraged Leco, who already waved the possibility of opening the coffers to count on the Argentine again. The salary-cap at São Paulo is R$ 350,000 [€96,000] per month, but it would be possible to reach up to R$ 500,000 [€135,000] a month, between salaries and bonuses, to guarantee his return. The last appearance of Calleri in the Premier League occurred on 22 October, and he was downgraded to the U23 team that beat West Brom 2-1 on 31 October. A Tricolor leader said: “Calleri made it clear that he wants to return to São Paulo. He hasn"t even been picked for the Premier League games there in England."
Since arriving in London, Calleri has played nine games for the first-team and is yet to score a goal. For the U23 side, he entered the field just once. The news that Calleri is only lent to West Ham caught some of them at the Morumbi by surprise. It had been reported in July that the English side were acquiring the attacker from the investment fund led by Gustavo Aribas – the agent spent around €12 million to get him out of Boca Juniors in late 2015. However, West Ham"s offer was less than the €12 million invested, and the alternative was to lend him for a season. Calleri left great memories at São Paulo, where he made 31 appearances amd scored 16 goals. He had nine in the Libertadores, and finished as the top scorer of the tournament, with a goal more than Ismael Sosa and Marco Ruben.
