Dunga has a chance to win the highest salary of his career as a coach in Chinese football next year.
Out of football since June, when he was fired by CBF, Dunga can go back to work in 2017. The former Brazil coach has been negotiating for almost a month to go to China"s Beijing Guoan. Renato Augusto and Ralf"s team are looking for a coach after the departure of Italian Alberto Zaccheroni, who could only lead the team to fifth position in the national championship. The problem is that Dunga is not alone in the race; Sweden"s Sven-Göran Eriksson, who led China"s Shanghai SIPG this year, was approached by the Guoan board. Former Chelsea and Tottenham coach André Villas-Boas will be in charge of Shanghai in 2017. According to the information from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Dunga was so convinced that he would be the Guoan coach that he has already started setting up his committee. Dunga had indicated Paulo Paixão as a physical trainer, Andrey Lopes as his assistant, as well as a physiotherapist.
The trend of appointing former coaches of the five-time world champions is not new in China. Luiz Felipe Scolari was national champion with Guangzhou Evergrande twice, while Mano Menezes had a spell at Shandong Luneng in the first half of this year, without much success. Former Real Madrid manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo was in charge of Tianjin Quanjian, in the second division, until June, when he was dismissed. According to the report, the proposal in Dunga"s hands would guarantee him the highest salary of his career since becoming a coach – over R$ 1.2 million [€325,000] per month, free of taxes.
