The Brazilian football federation announced on Friday that Real Madrid defensive midfielder Casemiro has been removed from the national team squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Peru.
The player hasn’t recovered in time from an injury, a crack on the fibula of his left leg. Brazil coach Tite already knew about this possibility, so he had picked 24 players during the call-up at the end of October. The list has five defenders, and Rodrigo Caio of São Paulo, can play as a defensive midfielder. So, no one will be called up to replace Casemiro. Casemiro was injured on 18th September during the 2-0 victory of Real Madrid over Espanyol. Tests with the Spanish club identified the injury, which also forced the player out of the games against Venezuela and Bolivia. Leader of the qualifiers with 21 points and still unbeaten under Tite, Brazil will face Argentina at the Mineirão stadium, on Thursday, and then takes on Peru in Lima, on the 15th.
