Brazilian attacker Gabriel Jesus was announced as the new signing of Premier League side Manchester City on Wednesday.
Gabriel Jesus, who will arrive at Manchester City in January 2017, has become one of the most valued players in the history of Brazil. Manchester City spent €32.75 million for Gabriel Jesus’ services, and the 19-year-old is the third-most expensive player to leave the South American nation to Europe. Gabriel is ahead of the likes of Alexandre Pato, who joined AC Milan from Internacional in 2007 for €22 million and Oscar, who was sold to Chelsea for €24.5 million in 2012. Neymar still remains the most expensive player in the history of Brazilian football. Barcelona paid €86.2 million to buy the forward from Santos in 2013. In 1998, Spanish club Real Betis paid €31 million to sign Denílson from São Paulo, while Paris Saint-Germain shelled out a staggering €45 million to buy Lucas Moura in 2012. Shakhtar Donetsk had to meet Atlético Mineiro’s €25 million asking price to complete the signing of Bernard in the summer of 2013. Current UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid paid €24 million in 2005 to sign Robinho from Santos.
