The Brazilian national team were controversially knocked out from the group stages of the Copa América Centenário, which is held in the United States.
Brazil faced Peru in the final group game on Sunday night, but were beaten 1-0 after Raúl Ruidíaz used his arm to convert the ball into the net. After four minutes of discussions with his assistants, the referee awarded the goal, despite images clearly showing Ruidíaz handling the ball.
After the game, Dunga was asked if he feared about getting the sack from the Brazilian football federation, he said: “I only fear death. Nothing else. We’re doing a redesign of work. It is a job that needs patience. Germany took 14 years to reach the current level. We are doing ours for two years. In Brazil, there’s pressure for immediate results, so normal pressure.”
Dunga also added that the pressure for results at the Olympic Games, held in August in Rio, will be even greater after the early elimination from the Copa América. He added: “There will be pressure for the Gold medal, because Brazil have never won it. When we’re coming in from a defeat there is pressure for results, but the fans saw the game and I’m sure they have the same feeling as ours. We were not eliminated by playing football.”
