Former players Rogério Ceni and Juninho Paulista will be assistants of the coaching staff of Brazil’s national team during the period of the Copa América Centenário.
The former Middlesbrough midfielder will stay until the friendly against Panama on 29th June in Denver, while the goalkeeper who retired last December will stay throughout the competition, which will be played in the United States. Both were World Champions in 2002. Since the FIFA World Cup in 2014, a former player of the national team, most of the time a world champion, is selected during each call up to convey their experiences to the group. Mauro Silva, Edu, Oscar Bernardi, Jairzinho, Edmílson, Careca, Clodoaldo and Lúcio have already participated. According to team coordinator Gilmar Rinaldi, at the end of each period with the national team, these assistants prepare a report on the positives and negatives they noted. The delegation will be presented from May 22 in Los Angeles. On the 29th, Seleção will play a friendly against Panama in Denver. The opening match of the Copa América Centenário is scheduled for the June 4, against Ecuador in Los Angeles.
