Right-back Dani Alves and attacker Neymar was talking points in the press-conference of Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu on Friday.
Bartomeu once again stated that the club intends to release Neymar just for one competition this summer, preferably the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. As for the right-back, Bartomeu revealed dissatisfaction among some club officials following a humorous video posted by Dani Alves on Thursday, a day after Barcelona’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League. In the clio, Alves imitates his girlfriend Joana Sanz, saying it was “just a game.” Bartomeu said: “Although it’s true that there are club members who have been offended, the video shows that the players have moved on and are being positive and making jokes.”
On Neymar, he said: “We have sent a letter to CBF in which we have said that the player should rest for the good of both Barcelona and Brazil, and we have made a proposal. We understand that the player wants to play in everything, but we’re asking them to place value on the idea that the player compete in just one event. We would prefer that to be the Olympics. Whether or not we will prohibit him from both, that remains to be seen. First we will talk about it. But if we have to impose something, we will impose it.”
