With difficulty in reaching an agreement for Colombian striker Téo Gutiérrez, Brasileirão side Internacional have identified a new name to strengthen their attack.
The player is 22-year-old striker Nicolás López, currently at Uruguayan side Nacional, but belongs to businessman Giampaolo Pozzo, who manages Udinese, Watford and Granada. According to the information from Globo Esporte, Internacional vice-president Carlos Pellegrini is in England to discuss the subject, and believes that the good relationship with the investor would facilitate a move. Internacional have previously negotiated the signing of Chilean midfielder Charles Aránguiz with Pozzo in 2014. López drew the attention of Inter after his performances against Palmeiras in the Copa Libertadores, where the striker scored in both group stage matches. In the continental tournament, he has already found the net on three occasions. López’ name was considered by the board after the difficulties in signing Téo Gutiérrez. Portuguese club Sporting does not intend to release the Colombian before the end of the European season. In addition to López, Internacional are still working to bring a new goalkeeper, a defender and two midfielders.
