With 37.87% of votes, the “Blaugrana” was ahead of the Bayern Munich forward Douglas Costa (13%) and Inter Milan’s defensive midfielder Felipe Melo in the polls. Melo was again the beneficiary of the massive mobilization fans of his former club Galatasaray, who made up 9.39% of the voters.
Over 100,000 users took part in this election. The votes of readers were combined with those of a panel of international journalists and former Brazilian players who have worn the canary shirt, such as Taffarel, Rai and Juninho.
With 34 goals in 46 games, the former FC Santos player ended 2015 in second position in the ranking of La Liga scorers and his progress continues to impress observers. His meteoric rise has been rewarded by his appearance on the three man shortlist for the 2015 Ballon D’Or to be held in January.
Like last year, the captain of the Seleção will receive his award in February in Barcelona.
