The representative of the 23 year old Napoli midfielders admits a move to Arsenal would be taken under serious consideration if the Premier League club made a bid in January.

The Brazilian has enjoyed a new lease of life under new coach Maurizio Sarri after being stifled for much of last season by Rafael Benitez. His improved form has seen the ex-Verona man linked with a move to the North Londoners after The Gunners sent scouts to cast an eye on the midfielder during the goalless draw with Genoa at the weekend.

Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos told Radio Crc;

“I don’t know if the Arsenal scouts were in Genoa for Jorginho,”

“I’m not surprised that the player is doing very well – especially in light of the change of coach – and that top clubs are interested in him.

“One of the head scouts of Arsenal is well-known, and so I know he was at Marassi for the Napoli match. Right now we’re more thinking about Jorginho at Napoli than the transfer market.

Despite eulogising over a potential move to the 2015 FA Cup winners Santos was adamant that his clients first target is to attract the attention of national team coach Antonio Conte, after revealing he would like to utilize his Italian citizenship rather than play for the team of his birth.

“I’m in Brazil, and when I’m back we can discuss my client’s contract. The priority is getting a call-up for the national team, then there’s the January transfer market.

This suggests Jorginho’s immediate concerns lie with Napoli and nailing down a place in the centre of midfield that also boasts Chelsea loanee Nathaniel Chalobah in their ranks.

However he didn’t rule out a move away from Naples if a team the calibre of Arsenal did come in for the 23 year old.

“If Napoli receive an irrefutable offer for Jorginho in January then it’s normal that we’d make our assessments.”

Jorginho holds duel citizenship for Italy and Brazil, and despite likening Naples to his homeland he re-iritarated his desire to play for The Azzuri.
