19-year-old Santos attacker Gabriel Barbosa will be judged on Thursday by the Superior Court of Justice for his red card against Grêmio on October 15 after offending the referee.
As mentioned in ESPN Brasil, the maximum sentence is a suspension for six matches, and Gabigol has served a one match ban already. In the match report, referee Marielson Alves Silva claims to have been offended by Gabigol after the game had already been finished which resulted in the striker’s sending off. According to the referee’s match report, Gabigol would’ve said: “You just do s**t, you just do s**t. After these words, the same left the playing field without major problems.”
The referee also claims that the five minute delay to restart the game was because Santos arrived to the pitch four minutes after the scheduled time, and the club are facing a fine between R$ 100 and R$ 1000.
