Corinthians will be without one of their key players in the Brasileirão Round-33 fixture with Atlético Mineiro at the Independência next Sunday.
Midfielder Elias received his third yellow card during the club’s 1-0 win over Flamengo on Sunday at the Itaquera, and will be suspended for the next game. Elias was taken down inside the box in the first half, but complained at the referee for not awarding a penalty and this earned him a booking. Elias thinks the referee made a mistake by not pointing to the spot and showing him a yellow card; he said: “It was a penalty. Everyone saw. I even tried to jump to continue the game. Referee was mistaken; he did not give the penalty and still gave me a yellow, leaving me suspended. There are things that need to change. He commands and is the highest authority. Football is dialogue. You have to know how to listen. We’re not here to hinder the work of anyone.”
