Fighting against relegation in the Brazilian Championship, Vasco wants to advance in the Copa do Brasil and an almost full-strength side will face São Paulo on Wednesday at the Morumbi stadium in the first-leg quarterfinals.
The only player absent for the fixture will be striker Rafael Silva who"s out with a muscle problem and didn"t take part in the team"s training on Tuesday. Vasco coach Jorginho has picked 22 players for the match in São Paulo, and are also boosted by the return of midfielder Pablo Guiñazú. Vasco will be hoping to end a run of three years without a victory over their opponents; the previous win coming in July 2012 at the Morumbi [1-0, goal from Fágner]. Vasco are unbeaten in their last four league games [3 wins and a draw] and despite an almost full-strength squad available to him, coach Jorginho didn"t confirm the team he"d field on Wednesday. He was quoted in Globo Esporte: “Game of 180 minutes without conceding a goal will be important. Perhaps, a draw with goals also helps us a lot. We know how difficult it is, São Paulo are a great team. We know their potential, and they have extremely high quality players. We know how difficult, but we go there looking to surprise them."
