Brazilian defender Gil has extended his contract at Corinthians for one more year, and the new bond will keep him at Timão until December 2019.
The previous deal was until the end of 2018, but the new contract, which includes a salary increase, is a reward for Gil’s good performances this season. Gil was bought by Corinthians from French club Valenciennes in 2013 for a fee of around €3.5 million, and has since made 173 appearances for them, scoring six goals. He has been called up by national team coach Dunga for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Venezuela. According to Globo Esporte, Gil is not the only key player in the team who’ll be rewarded with a new deal. Renato Augusto, also called up by Dunga for the qualifiers, is expected to receive a renewal offer from the club, and they’re analyzing the contract situation of Jádson, too.
