Paris Saint-Germain cruised to a 3-0 win at home to Guingamp last night to bounce back from their disappointing 1-1 draw at Reims at the weekend.

PSG fielded three Brazilian defenders in their backline from the start with David Luiz, Maxwell and Marquinhos tasked with keeping Guingamp’s forward line quiet. Captain Thiago Silva was given a rest but came on to complete a Brazilian back four thirty minutes from time. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was on target for the champions who move four points clear at the top having played a game more than Rennes.

It was not such a good night for fellow Brazilian Dante who returned to Bayern Munich following his move to Wolfsburg in the summer. Wolfsburg knew a win would put them just a point behind Bayern and things looked good at half time when they went in a goal to the good. But Dante and his compatriot Naldo were given the runaround in a remarkable second half. Bayern substitute Robert Lewandowski needed only nine minutes to score five goals and claim a comprehensive 5-1 win for the home side. Douglas Costa also played the full 90 minutes for the champions.

It was also almost an embarrassing night for AC Milan defender Alex who gained some much needed playing time in his side’s match against Udinese. The 33 year old was brought on four minutes into the second half with Milan leading 3-0 and looking dominant. But within nine minutes Udinese had scored two goals as Alex struggled to combine with fellow centre back Alessio Romagnoli. To their credit Milan hung onto their lead to win 3-2 for their third victory of the campaign.
