Brazil goalkeeper Jefferson has called on the nation"s public to be patient as the Seleção continue to rebuild following last year’s World Cup disappointment.
Their 1-0 victory over Honduras was the 10th consecutive victory since the 7-1 semi-final defeat to Germany last summer, but still many supporters remain dissatisfied. Sections of the crowd in Porto Alegre expressed their frustration with the overall performance as Brazil failed to build on Roberto Firmino’s first-half opener. He said: “The crowd in Brazil is very demanding, we respect that, but [they] have to understand that the most important thing is to win. I think they have to have a little more patience, because this was the last game before the Copa América. The real kick off is now. There are many national teams in transition, such as Argentina and Uruguay. It will be good for us to continue to grow in the competition which will certainly be a good preparation for the 2018 World Cup [qualifiers]."
