Chelsea midfielder Oscar has missed out on being named in Brazil’s squad for the Copa America in Chile after suffering an injury during club training.

Oscar was expected to be included in Dunga’s 23-man squad, however, following discussions with Chelsea the Brazil boss preferred not to take a risk with a player who is sure to play a big part for his side as their Russia 2018 qualification campaign gets under way later this year.

“We spoke with Jose Mourinho and the doctor at Chelsea,” Dunga said. “Oscar’s recuperation will take time and he won’t be at his best during the Copa America.

“After the Copa America we have the World Cup qualifiers, and we thought it best for him to be ready for the qualifiers.”

Four Premier League based players did make Brazil’s squad: Filipe Luis and Willian of Chelsea, Manchester City’s Fernandinho and Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.
