Lucas Leiva believes that young footballers have to be more careful than ever after the emergence of social media.

Raheem Sterling was recently pictured smoking a shisha pipe which got him into hot water and players can’t do anything without the risk of it getting to the public. Lucas said he felt sorry for younger players as he made mistakes while growing up.

“Ten years ago a young player would have more space,” he says.

“We have a lot of young players here; they are very good and they listen but sometimes when you are young you make mistakes but you learn from them.”

“Today we go to a restaurant and everyone is filming, recording or taking pictures and you need to have extra care. There are a lot of people out there who are not willing to help you and make headlines.”
