Corinthians defeated rivals São Paulo for the second time this year with the first victory coming at home in the Libertadores.

In form striker Alexandre Pato had to sit out of the match due to contractual clauses, and his replacement Adrián Centurión stood out in the game for São Paulo. Danilo scored the only goal of the game in the 11th minute of the first-half in a very eventful fixture at the Morumbi stadium. Brazilian defender Gil was shown a second yellow card in the second-half after he appeared to have handled the ball. Referee pointed to the spot for a penalty after discussing with his assistants, but Rogério Ceni’s kick was well saved by Cássio.
