Internacional were defeated 3-1 away at Bolivian side The Strongest last night in a game where their players stuggled with the altitude.

New signing Anderson was the player who was most affected as he had to leave the field after only 36 minutes. By this stage Inter were 2-0 down and although they put up more of a fight in the second half they couldn’t peg back the deficit.

Following the match, Anderson was again criticized in the British press for his poor fitness. Pictures of him using an oxygen mask were posted on the Daily Mail website who also stated that the news “does not come as a surprise” to Manchester United fans.

Bolivia is notorious for its thin air and foreign players often struggle for breath in the conditions. Internacional are now bottom of their Copa Libertadores group.
