Manchester United are reportedly prepared to let Anderson walk away from the club on a free transfer.

The Brazilian is way down the pecking order at Old Trafford, having failed to nail down a place under David Moyes last term or Louis van Gaal this current campaign.

Anderson’s contract is up on the summer, and is free to talk to clubs about a move in January, and United have no plans to offer the 26-year-old a new deal, according to the Daily Mail.

Anderson’s chances have been limited this season by calf and hamstring problems, but Van Gaal does not see the former Porto midfielder as a long-term solution to his engine room.

Anderson spent last season on loan with Serie A side Fiorentina but the Italians chose not to make the move permanent, while Flamengo were reportedly put off by his wage demands in the summer.

Gremio are understood to be monitoring the situation.
