Corinthians coach Mano Menezes has claimed Pato’s loan move to Sao Paulo was fuelled by a jealousy from the rest of the squad.
The ex-AC Milan star joined Sao Paulo earlier this year after struggling to settle with Corinthians, and Menezes explained that some of the team were unhappy with the amount of money the forward was earning compared to several others.
The ex-Brazil coach told Fox Sports: ‘Pato has suffered a bit from what is commong in football. When someone comes out and is earning more than the others, it provokes a reaction.
‘I felt that happened with him and the squad and we discussed the situation internally. The player had some problems and a new environment was better for him.’
