Neymar will surpass Pele’s all-time scoring record for Brazil, according to World Cup winner Romario.

Neymar scored four times against Japan earlier this month to take his tally to 40 goals in just 58 appearances for La Selecao.

Romario, who won the World Cup in 1994, thinks that the 22-year-old Barcelona star has more than enough time to break the legendary Pele’s record of 77 goals in 92 games.

‘Even though he is still young, Neymar is well aware of what he means for the world of football and for the Brazilian game in particular,’ Romario told Lancenet.

‘He is the one player the Brazilian people believe in and he has everything to make history. He is only 22 and already near Brazil’s all-time top goal scorers, if he manages to keep this up, he will surpass Pele.’
