Barcelona’s Dani Alves is staying with the Camp Nou club this season and he has revealed it is down to new boss Luis Enrique believing in him.

The Brazilian revealed that he needed the new head coach of the Catalan club to know he could count on the right-back.

Now that this is the case, the 32-year-old is ready to remain with the Barcelona club.

Football Espana quoted the Brazilian, he said: “I’m certain there were doubts (from Enrique).

“I like things to be up front and for people to say things to my face. I’ve won this club’s respect based on work.

“I wanted to know that Luis was counting on me to fight for the club and to keep on playing. When I felt that was really the case then it’s now up to me to do the work.”

Alves will get the chance to show Enrique what he can do this evening as Barcelona start their La Liga campaign against Elche.
