The Internazionale midfielder only appeared three times for the host nation during the competition, all from the subsitutes bench, but admitted he still enjoyed himself when speaking to Sport Mediaset.

Football Italia quoted Hernanes, he said: "My country had a fantastic experience.

"It went badly [against Germany], but I enjoyed it a lot. The plan was for it to have gone differently, but it went how it went."

Hernanes was recently joined at the San Siro by Chilean Gary Medel, somebody that faced Brazil in the World Cup round of 16.

The Brazilian midfielder praised his new team mate and is happy to see he has joined the Nerazzurri.

"He [Medel] is a great player, " Hernanes said. "He did very well with his team. It was hard against Chile and I am happy for him."
