On Friday night, ten days earlier than originally planned, Neymar travelled from São Paulo to Barcelona, reports Terra Esporte.

The striker had been enjoying time off following his World Cup exploits but has taken the decision to return to Spain early in an effort to step up rehabilitation from his back injury.

The 22-year-old is due to return to the Catalan club on August 5. Between now and then he is expected to enjoy the final few days of his holiday in Ibiza, but will take with him a physiotherapist with the aim of working on the spinal injury he suffered against Colombia in the World Cup.

The club expects Neymar to be fit for the start of their campaign, which begins on August 24 when Luis Henrique’s men welcome Elche to the Camp Nou.
