In his first words since joining the London club, Diego Costa, who will train with his new team-mates for the first time next week, praised both his new manager and colleagues.

Following a disappointing World Cup with Spain, on both a personal and team level, Diego Costa will be looking forward to playing for Chelsea having signed for the Blues for £32 million on a five year deal.

“I’m really pleased to sign for Chelsea. Everybody knows that it’s a big club in a competitive league and I’m really excited to get started and to play in England with a fantastic coach and great team-mates.

“I played against Chelsea last season and I know the quality of the squad,” said the 25-year-old.

The Spanish-Brazilian striker also praised his former club Atlético Madrid.

“I would also like to thank everybody at Atlético, the team that made me the player I am today. I had some incredible times there but now is a new adventure and I want to win a lot of trophies with Chelsea.”
