Cruzeiro captain Fabio has told reporters that the club’s recent tour of the USA was a productive one that strengthened team unity and prepared them for the resumption of the Brazilian domestic season following the recent World Cup.

The goalkeeper, who is attempting to lead his side to a second successive league title, said: “It will be difficult to return to the championship, because everyone has had a break, us too.”

“But we did the job well (of going away on tour) and have strength to face such adversity and try again to win the competition”

“It (the tour) was good for living, it increases the friedndships between us and it’ll work for the rest of the season.”

Cruzeiro top the Brasileirao table after nine games, with 19 points, and lead by three from Fluminense, Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Internacional. 

Upon the league’s return, the champions host Vitoria on Thursday evening before an away game against Palmeiras on Sunday.
