Barcelona defender Adriano has revealed he is looking forward to staying at the Camp Nou and showing new Barca boss Luis Enrique that he is deserving of a starting position.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Spain but in an interview with Marca, he insists he will do his upmost to impress the new man in charge at the Catalan club.

Adriano was quoted by Football Espana, he said: "I have a contract [with Barca] until 2017.

"I know there is interest from other clubs but as the President didn’t tell me anything, I’ll still try to convince [the head coach] that I can play.

"I want to talk with the coach and set the record straight. Rumours about me leaving aren’t true and I want to start the season without rumours about whether I go or not."

The full-back is currently on his holiday in Menorca and discussed why he isn’t enjoying the World Cup in his native Brazil.

"My wife and I decided to come here and watch on TV since I wasn’t in the national team," Adriano said.

"I missed the World Cup in my country but I am enjoying it here. It’s a very big disappointment not to play in the World Cup."
