Brazil midfielder Fernandinho insists confidence is high in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s squad ahead of Friday’s World Cup quarter-final clash against Colombia.

The Manchester City ace started against Chile at the weekend as Brazil survived a tense round of 16 battle to win 3-2 on penalties after the two sides were level at 1-1 after extra time.

And now the 29-year-old is full of belief ahead of Friday’s game, Goal.com quoted him as saying: “We’ll have to make sure we do a few things in the right way, but the confidence of the group is really high.

“I think that this game against Chile was fundamental so that we could get stronger. It enabled us to get to the quarter-finals in a stronger position.

“I think that us players, the technical staff, the whole team, we are really focused and we are confident we can play a big game against Colombia.”

Brazil can expect a tough test against Colombia as the South Americans have arguably been one of the teams of the tournament and Friday’s fixture should be a thriller.
