Luiz Gustavo believes he was right to leave Bayern Munich for VfL Wolfsburg last summer.

The midfielder decided to depart the Bundesliga champions to ensure he was playing regular football ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking at a press conference, Gustavo admitted it was tough to move on from Bayern, but feels his decision has been justified.

“A lot of good things happened at Bayern which I have remembered, as well as some bad things which force you to learn and evolve,” he said, as reported by FIFA.com. “Leaving that club was not an easy moment, but it was the start of a learning curve and I have come out of it even stronger.”

The 26 year-old also added that “everyone has their own opinion, but I am very happy today” when asked about Bayern Head Coach Pep Guardiola’s willingness to let him go.
