Luiz Gustavo has insisted “it makes no difference” who partners him in midfielder for Brazil’s Round of 16 clash with Chile.

A debate has been raging in Brazil as to whether Paulinho or Fernandinho should be selected.

The former is a favourite of Seleção Head Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, but has had a poor tournament, while Fernandinho impressed as a substitute against Cameroon.

“For me it makes no difference (who plays) because I have to do whatever the coach wants me to do and the other players have to as well,” Gustavo told FIFA.com. “(Paulinho and Fernandinho) have different characteristics, but for me and the team as a whole it doesn’t change anything because everyone is focused on the same objective.”

Brazil face Chile at the Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto on Saturday.
