Internacional attacker Andres D’Alessandro has spoken candidly of his relationship with former teammate Fernandao, who sadly died in a helicopter crash earlier this month at the age of 36.

Fernandao was actually manager of Inter for a brief spell in 2012 but will be forever remembered by D’Alessandro for their work together on the pitch, during which time the pair won a Copa Libertadores and Campeonato Gaucho.

in an interview with Goal, D’Alessandro said: “I was lucky to work with him as a manager and coach. I got on very well with him, he was a quiet guy.”

“And we will always have to highlight what he represents for our club, being the captain of our greatest achievement, not to mention various titles.”

“He will always be remembered and no one will ever replace him.”
